Vestmannaeyjar, also known as the “Westman Islands”, is a group of 15 islands located off the southern coast of Iceland that were formed over 10.000 years ago. The largest island, Heimaey, is the only island we live on and is made of 5 volcano eruptions, last one happening only 50 years ago.
Vestmannaeyjar are known for its history, stunning nature and unique wildlife, including the world’s largest puffin colony.
Visitors can explore Vestmannaeyjar’s dramatic landscapes, hike to the summit of a volcano, take a boat tour around the islands or simply relax and enjoy the laid-back island atmosphere.
